Hands, and time to watch them

A tutorial video shows the hands and the notes at once, and at full speed there is too much to take in. Setting Speed to 75 % or 60 % gives your eyes time to follow the fingering while your ears still hear the piece in tune.

Right hand, left hand, both

Loop the passage for the right hand first, then the same bars for the left. Press Set A just before the first note of the bar and Set B just after the last. When each hand is secure, loop both together at the slow speed, and raise the speed one step at a time.

When the tutorial is in another key

A tutorial may be in a key different from your sheet music, for example a version arranged for easier reading. Match it by changing the key in whole semitones until the pitches agree with your score.

Keeping your place across the week

A tutorial can be twenty minutes long, and you may be working on only a few bars of it. PitchShed remembers the loop points and the speed for each video, so when you come back, one click returns you to those bars.

Speed control is free for good.

Reading along with the score

If you have the sheet music, open it next to the video. At a slow speed you can follow the notes on the page while the tutorial plays them, and the loop keeps the bar playing long enough for your eyes to find it on the page.

When it is time to speed up

Bring the speed up one step at a time once each hand is secure. A piece you can play at 75 % without stumbling is ready for 80 %; if it stumbles, stay where you are for another round.
